Herniated & Degenerative Disc Treatment

Orthobiologic treatments use natural substances from your body to help heal injuries and reduce pain. Here are some common types:

What is Discseel®?

Have you heard about the Discseel® Procedure?

It's been a game-changer for many people struggling with low back pain and neck pain. Instead of opting for surgery, this minimally invasive procedure uses FDA-approved Biologic Fibrin Sealant to provide long lasting relief. What's particularly remarkable is its capacity to actively promote the sealing and healing of spinal discs. Extensive research into the procedure has revealed consistently impressive long-term outcomes, as substantiated by peer-reviewed literature.

What Is Degenerative Disc Disease?

As we age, spinal discs obtain wear and tear that can lead to annular tears. These tears may cause disc desiccation (dehydration), leaving the spinal discs thin and unable to cushion the vertebrae. Degenerative disc disease can lead to other spine conditions as well, but annular tears are a common cause of degenerative disc disease and its symptoms.

Have an Annulogram™ Performed

Our annulogram™ offers a pain-free examination, detecting delicate disc tears unseen by MRI or discography. By meticulously examining each disc, we catch even the subtlest tears early, preventing them from worsening into herniations or degeneration. It's a crucial step in the Discseel® Procedure.

During your annulogram™, we inject X-ray contrast and a trace of antibiotic into each disc's outer annulus fibrosus to reveal tears. Then, The medication is promptly injected to seal the tears and promote tissue growth, healing the discs over time.

Receive Treatment

During the Discseel® Procedure, lasting about 40 minutes in an outpatient setting, you'll receive mild sedation for comfort. Using x-ray fluoroscopy, your physician will inject contrast mixed with an antibiotic into each disc, pinpointing disc tears. Then, under x-ray guidance, essential components of Fibrin are injected into the tears, sealing damaged discs. Over months, Fibrin promotes tissue growth, aiding in disc healing.

After your Discseel® Procedure, you'll spend approximately 30 minutes resting in recovery. It's common to experience temporary changes in symptoms initially, before experiencing improvement. We encourage you to walk with assistance on the following day and gradually increase your activity level as tolerated. Aim to incrementally increase your activities by 10% until you reach 100% of your desired activity level. Most individuals begin to experience relief within 3-6 months post-procedure, as the healing process for our discs is gradual.

Orthobiologic Injections

Orthobiologic treatments use natural substances from your body to help heal injuries and reduce pain. Here are some common types:

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

  • What it is: We take a small amount of your blood, concentrate the platelets, and inject it into the injured area.
  • How it helps: Platelets have growth factors that promote healing and reduce inflammation.
  • Uses: Helpful for arthritis, tendon injuries, ligament injuries, and muscle strains.

Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC)

  • What it is: We take bone marrow from your pelvis, concentrate the healing cells, and inject them into the injured area.
  • How it helps: These cells promote healing and tissue repair.
  • Uses: Effective for arthritis, cartilage damage, tendon and ligament injuries, and bone fractures.

Micro-Fragmented Adipose Tissue (MFAT) Therapy:

  • What it is: We take a small amount of fat from your body (usually from the belly or thigh), process it into tiny pieces, and inject it into the injured area.
  • How it helps: The fat contains special cells that reduce inflammation and help repair tissues. These cells boost your body’s natural healing processes.
  • Uses: Effective for arthritis, cartilage damage, tendon and ligament injuries, and bone fractures
